Joan Laporta Impatient For Lionel Messi To Agree New Terms

Joan Laporta is pressuring Lionel Messi to accept the fresh terms offered to him.

Barcelona confirmed Memphis Depay’s arrival last weekend as he joined Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero and Emerson Royal in the list of incomings.

As The Blaugrana go around to restrengthening their side, much of the emphasis is still put around Messi’s future. Will the Argentine stay or go? Any further signings are bound to be impacted by his decision.

“There will be three or four more signings,” Barca president, Laporta stated.

“If we want football to be more attractive and sustainable, we have to go down this route [with the European Super League].”

One of Laporta’s main goals has been to get Lionel Messi to sign a new contract, but he is still awaiting a response from the Argentina star.

“I would like Messi to say yes as soon as possible, it would help us in every way,” he said.

“We are in communication, day in and day out. He’s excited and I’m grateful for the desire he’s showing to stay.”

Barcelona will also need to clear out much of the deadwood and trim down their wage bills. Adding any premium talent will only come at the cost of a number of unnecessary names making a Camp Nou exit.
