Ronald Koeman is expected to be sacked in the coming weeks.

Former Barca striker Luis Suarez has told to his former teammate Xavi to snub Barcelona’s managerial offer who is widely recognised as one of Barca’s greatest ever players.

Barcelona had a horrid start to the new campaign and after an array of disappointing results, Koeman could face the axe very soon.

President Joan Laporta is on the hunt for a new manager and Xavi has emerged as one of the possible replacements who is currently managing Al-Sadd in Qatar.

Suarez has asked Xavi to wait for the perfect moment to take the Barcelona gig.

“As a soccer fan and what he has done as a player, I don’t think that today, tomorrow or the day after is the time to catch the team,” Suarez told SPORT.

“He is intelligent and knows the difficulty of the club. He must wait for the moment. He has colleagues inside with whom he will have to make decisions and it will be difficult.”

“I see him as a very qualified coach” and is backing him “to be as great as a coach as he was as a player.”
