Reports in Europe are confirming that Neymar has initiated “operation exit” to join Barcelona.
Neymar and PSG have formed an unhappy couple for the last few seasons. The forward joined the French champions under much hooplah breaking the world transfer record back in 2017.
He forced an exit from the club at Barcelona to fulfill his dream of becoming the best player in the world. However, both PSG and Neymar have led each other astray and Neymar was frustrated enough by this summer to run back to Barcelona.
Reports are now suggesting that Neymar is using his legal team to look into the ‘protected period’ with PSG; which ends after his third campaign at the club. In this case, the upcoming summer. This contract clause falls under the ‘Regulations for the Statute and Transfer of FIFA’.
PSG for their part are also keen to make sure Neymar does not stroll back to Barcelona after leaving PSG empty handed despite all their investments.
It will be interesting to see what stance Barcelona take in the middle of all this and how much they push the Neymar transfer from their end.
While the board were slacking off in the summer to sign Neymar, they have now identified Neymar as the man to lead the club in the post-Messi era.
