Pep Guardiola has defended current Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde amidst the state of confusion at the club.
The current Barcelona coach has come under a lot of fire from the media for Barcelona’s performances. However, the way the Barcelona board has reacted all of a sudden can be considered below the belt.
Barcelona had been struggling for a long time under Valverde but club president Bartemou seemed less than interested. All of a sudden with the elections coming up, Barcelona has decided to act proactive and has rather openly begun the pursuit of Barcelona legend, Xavi.
Coincidentally, Xavi also happened to be a big supporter of Bartemous’s rival for the upcoming elections. It can all be seen too clearly that the current president is only doing this to save his own seat at the club rather than actually improve Barcelona.
Former boss Pep Guardiola has now added his voice to the defence of Valverde after such sly treatment from Bartemou.
“Coaches are always judged by the results, whatever we do. Barcelona is a special place , where winning the league is not enough. I am very sorry for Ernesto Valverde, he does not deserve this. Hopefully the situation can be resolved soon, as a member of this club. This is all.”
Whether Valverde gets sacked or not, we sure hope Bartemou does not stay.
