Sergio Busquets, a midfielder for Barcelona, has made the decision to quit the team this summer when his contract expires

The captain of Barcelona declared that he will make a decision regarding his future at the club during this little break. Although the club had been attempting to keep Busquets for an additional year, he had always wanted to leave this summer.

Legendary defensive midfielder rejected declined the offer while considering it. The Catalan is about to make his decision public. Busquets is unclear about the best time to make his choice public, though. As soon as he speaks to the club, he wants to address it. He might, however, wait until Barca wins La Liga or make the announcement soon. They now lead the league with 13 points and may win the championship on Sunday at Espanyol.

Undoubtedly, Barca will lose one of their veterans from the last 15 years. One of the best central midfielders in the world, he graduated from Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy. Together with Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta, Busquets formed the renowned midfield three for Barcelona. When they retired, he assumed the leadership role and continued to play a role in other productive Barca teams.

The 34-year-old has made 719 appearances for Barcelona, contributing to 45 additional goals and 18 other goals. For his childhood club, he has won 32 championships, including eight league and three Champions League wins. The international player for Spain continued his success on the international scene, winning the 2012 European Championship and the 2010 World Cup.

It’s uncertain where Busquets will go after leaving Barcelona, although he’ll probably keep playing. Inter Miami of Major League Soccer has expressed interest in acquiring him. Al Hilal of the Saudi Pro League also wants him. They reportedly want to seize both Jordi Alba and him. Additionally, both teams are interested in bringing Busquets and Lionel Messi, an old friend, but the Argentine international wants to go back to Barcelona.
