Norwich City defender Max Aarons was linked with Barcelona during the summer.

Barcelona had shown a definite interest in the 20 year old during the summer transfer window. However, the move didn’t work out as Koeman ended up signing Sergino Dest. However, Aarons was more than happy to be linked to the Catalan club.

“There was a lot of talk and that time period was a crazy few weeks when everything was going off,” Aarons explained. “To be linked with the biggest club in the world, in my opinion, was amazing.

“There’s going to be a time where you can say more and speak about it in a bit more detail but as soon as it was over and everything was finished, I couldn’t be disheartened or down about anything. I’ve got a job to do at Norwich and play the best I can. That’s what was important to me at the time.

“It was a crazy few weeks and to be linked with that size of a club was amazing and brought it to me that I should be grateful and (reminded me of) how hard I’ve worked.”

“It was hard (to go back to normal after the interest). With a club of that size, sometimes your head can be completely turned and it would be wrong to say that it’s not but I’m only 20-years-old and I’ve got a load of years ahead of me where I can play at the highest level.

Camp Nou to be named after Lionel Messi says presidential candidate Emili Rousaud.

Presidential candidate, Emili Rousaud, promised to rename Camp Nou stadium after Lionel Messi if he wins the presidency.

The Blaugrana are to elect a new president in January after the sacking of Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Messi’s future with the Catalan giants remains uncertain beyond the end of the current season.

But Rousaud has pledged to rename Camp Nou after the club’s star player.

“We will hold a referendum to change the name of the stadium to Camp Nou – Leo Messi,” he told reporters.

“We’re going to sign two top players, one of them is Neymar,” he added. “We are working to bring him back to Barcelona if he withdraws the lawsuit he has against the club.

“We hope to be able to announce soon the name of the other big-name player we want to bring. It will not leave anyone indifferent. We have a direct line to the player.”

He is also hopeful of bringing back old club legends back to Camp Nou.

“If we win, we want to count on Xavi [Hernandez], [Andres] Iniesta and [Carles] Puyol and give them a strong link with the club, the team and La Masia,” he added.

“I do this out of enthusiasm, commitment and experience. I want to rebuild the team, the club and the economy. I will leave my skin to make Barca, once again, the best team in the world.

“I have known the house for five years and have business experience.”

Kevin Prince-Boateng considered quitting football when he played alongside Lionel Messi.

The former Barca midfielder played alongside the six-time Ballon d’Or winner during his short loan spell in 2019.

He was awestruck by the Argentian forward’s natural talent and those six months were enough to leave a lasting impression on Boateng.

“Training with Messi left me speechless,” he told DAZN. “I had always said that Cristiano Ronaldo was the best in the world, but Messi is something else. He’s not normal.

“While training with him, I felt inadequate for the first time in my career. He was doing incredible things. I felt like saying: ‘I’m done, I’m going to quit playing!'”

“At first, I didn’t believe it. I thought it was Espanyol who wanted me, not the real Barcelona!” he said. “Those six months were incredible.”

The former Ghanian international made only four appearances for the Catalan club.

The prospect and future of Antoine Griezmann at Barcelona has been dragging on for months now.

He has been off form and unhappy for long periods but head coach Ronald Koeman claims that is all over now.

The French forward has been in the middle of a huge controversy about his relationship with Lionel Messi. However, it seems Barcelona have at least appeared to bury that hatchet.

Koeman has now shed light on Antoine, despite the FIFA 2018 World Cup winner not starting the match against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.

“Griezmann was on the bench solely for a little physical problem we wanted to be careful with,” Koeman told a news conference after the game.

“It’s vital to give rest to some and playing time to those who work hard in training every day but haven’t played a lot.

“I have seen him [Griezmann] work from the beginning. He is a happy player, who always gives his best for the team and the club.

“Too bad he has no luck scoring more goals. The only way to change this is to work harder. He is trying.”

Koeman happy with Barca youngsters and vice-versa

Barcelona finally got some much needed respite with a 4-0 win over Dynamo Kiev last night.

Head coach Ronald Koeman was a happy man and praised his young team minus Messi, who was absent.

Speaking after the game with Movistar+, Koeman was content with their performance. “We achieved our goal, which was to get a good result and qualify for the round of 16,” he said. “The team has shown energy. We lacked effectiveness in the first half but we had it in the second half. We can be very happy.

“Tactically, we were better than in the first game against them, especially in midfield. We had intensity and concentration. In the first game we lacked that.

“[Mingueza] has shown that we can count on him. He has been training with us for five to six weeks. He has given us a good impression and today he has fulfilled, like many others.

“I liked the collective image we showed today. That’s what we want. Today we have seen a very hungry team. We scored four goals, important players were able to rest, and the youngsters have deserved these minutes. They have delivered.”

His young American duo Sergino Dest and Konrad de la Faunte were also delighted.

Konrad later said, “I am very happy for everything that I am experiencing. Everyone has helped me a lot and we are going to continue working to improve. I am very happy and will remember it for a long time.

“It is an amazing time for me and my family. We have worked hard to get here.”

Dest also stated: “We played very well and it is a dream to achieve my first goal. I tried to hold the position well. I am happy and I want to continue playing for this team. I needed to score, it was 0-1, and I’m very happy.”

Antoine Griezmann Has Had Enough And Wants To Speak Out

Antoine Griezmann Has Had Enough And Wants To Speak Out

Antoine Griezmann has finally spoken regarding rumours surrounding him.

He said, “I think it is time to put things in their place, I’ve been holding out for a long time.”

Last week, the club’s presidential hopeful Victor Font had shockingly stated, “Griezmann was a signing that shouldn’t have been made.”

Griezmann’s former agent, Eric Olhats told France Football, “Antoine arrived at a club with serious problems where Messi controls everything. He is both emperor and monarch and did not see Antoine’s arrival with good eyes.

“Messi’s attitude has been deplorable, he has made him feel it. I’ve always heard Antoine say that he had no problems with Messi, but never the other way around. It is the regime of terror. Either you are with him, or you are against him.”

Now, those are definitely worrying claims of the Barca dressing room atmosphere. Griezmann’s transfer was not easy to make and considering the price tag many would figure that he was one of the team’s outright stars.

Griezmann said as cited by Marca: “I said in my presentation with Barcelona that I did not want to speak off the pitch but only on the pitch, but I think it is time to put things in their place, I’ve been holding out for a long time.

“I have been putting up with things and comments for a long time and now this is enough.”

As tensions start to boil over in Barcelona, it really could have an effect on the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona Ready To Sell Some Players

Barcelona Ready To Sell Some Players

With the last few seasons being a problem to Barcelona, with losses in important matches and that terrible 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich, it was clear that the club needed to make some changes.

At the beginning of the season, many thought that Lionel Messi wouldn’t keep playing for the club, however, the Argentine decided to continue there. On the other hand, Luis Suarez, one of the main players in the last seasons, left for Atletico Madrid.

Now, the club is preparing a list of players to sell in order to get some money and be able to buy reinforcements. According to the website “Goal”, there are 7 players who will probably leave the club.

Matheus Fernandes

The Brazilian player was bought by Barcelona in January 2020. However, the young midfielder didn’t even have the chance to prove himself in the club.

Hours after completing the transfer, it was already said that Fernandes would play for Valladolid on loan. And even there, he didn’t have many chances, only playing 3 matches. Probably because of that, the club is thinking about selling. Brazilian club Palmeiras, the last club Fernandes played before going to Barcelona, is interested in getting the midfielder back.

Junior Firpo

The young left-back, who can also play as a winger, joined Barcelona in August 2019. Since then, Firpo had the chance to play 23 matches for the Catalan club and even scored a goal in the 2-0 victory against Getafe in September 2019.

However, this season the Spanish U-21 player only had the chance to place 2 matches for Barcelona, both in the UEFA Champions League. Apparently, he is not in the plans of managers Ronald Koeman. Internazionale and Napoli are both interested in the player, who may end up in the Italian league.

Riqui Puig

Another young Spanish player that doesn’t have the chance of playing in one of the big teams in Spain.

Ricard Puig Marti, better known as Riqui Puig, has joined Barcelona in 2013, still in the clubs academy, and was transferred to the main team in 2018. From 2018 to 2020, he played for Barcelona B, where he appeared in 56 matches and scored 2 goals. In the main team, however, he only got to play 14 games, with 12 of them being in the 2019-20 season. However, some newspapers say that manager Ronald Koeman has put Puig in his list of backup players.

Carles Aleña

Here we face another young Spanish player, who will probably be the future of Spain NT, that doesn’t have space in the great Barcelona. Carles Aleña has played his whole career for the Catalan club, as he entered their academy back in 2005. He then joined Barcelona B in 2015, where he played until 2018.

In December 2020, Aleña went on a loan to Real Betis, where he played 17 matches so far and scored one goal. The young midfielder is also a regular in Spain’s Under categories, having started in the U-16 back in 2013. According to some newspapers, Jose Mourinho is interested in Carles Aleña and wants him playing for Tottenham.

Alena, Firpo, and Fernandes were big picks by our author Kate Richardson, who went deep on available online data and information to reach this point. You can find out more about her here.

Samuel Umtiti

Even though he said he didn’t want to leave Barcelona, being the main reason why he said no to Arsenal in the beginning of the season, things don’t look good to Samuel Umtiti.

The French player, who has joined the Catalan club back in 2016, played in 18 matches last year. If we compare this number to his first season at the club, where he played 43 matches, it is clear that he has been having less chances.

His management is already thinking about a possible comeback to Ligue 1, with two clubs in mind: LOSC Lille and Stade Rennais. According to them, these teams may be able to revive Umtiti’s football.

Martin Braithwaite

Many say that the departure of Danish player Martin Braithwaite may be the key to Barcelona getting their main target this season: Memphis Depay.

The Dutch player who currently plays for Lyon, is really wanted by manager Ronald Koeman but Barcelona’s budget may interfere in that. Because of that, the sale of Braithwaite could be of help as it would open up funds in the club to bring the Dutch start.

Even though Braithwaite said he doesn’t pay attention to rumors, there is a big chance of him not staying in Barcelona after the Winter Transfer Window. There is no news about clubs being interested in him yet.

Conclusion

Barcelona Ready To Sell Some Players

Barcelona’s a massive club, but it’s undeniable they’ve been struggling financially in recent history. Obviously that they’ve got financial relief by getting rid of the likes of Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, and it seems there’s much more to come.

They can realistically make good cash out of the listed players. If you are a Barcelona fan, you should check out Mightytips’ Sports predictions for Barca.

Griezmann Insists Relationship With Messi Is Not Bad

Griezmann Insists Relationship With Messi Is Not Bad

Antoine Griezmann has commented on his relationship with Messi.

He has stated that the relationship between them has good since 2019. True, Messi was slightly annoyed at Griezmann when he turned down an offer to move to Barcelona in 2018 and stayed back at Atletico Madrid, but when he finally completed his move in 2019, he apologised to Messi and things have been good since.

“When I signed for the club I asked for forgiveness for delaying the move and saying I wouldn’t join Barcelona,” Griezmann told Jorge Valdano on the latest edition of Universo Valdano. “I told Lionel Messi that I would give everything on the pitch for the club.

“I spoke with Leo when I arrived and he told me that when I turned down the first chance to go, he was screwed because he had asked for it publicly, but he told me he was with me and I notice it every day.“

“He (Olhats) was very important in my life but I don’t have a relationship with him anymore,” Griezmann said. “I stopped having any relationship with him since the day I got married. I invited him to the wedding day, and he didn’t come. That’s why I stopped having a relationship with him.

“My uncle doesn’t know how football works. And in the end, the journalist ended up getting the statement out of him. I told Leo that I never speak to them, in fact, I don’t even have my uncle’s phone number.

“My parents don’t talk to Eric either, so who is going to talk to him? He can do a lot of damage, and create problems in the dressing room.”

Man City make final decision on Lionel Messi transfer!

Man City make final decision on Lionel Messi transfer!
Bildbyran

Manchester City has made a final decision on Lionel Messi’s transfer.

La Liga expert Semra Hunter believes they will not bid for Messi.

“I have it on good authority from someone close to the situation that Manchester City are not going to bid for Lionel Messi,” Hunter told Sky Sports News“Based on the information I have, as of today, that door is closed.

“They have their reasons for this. They have two reasons for this: age and finances.

“Talking about age, he is heading into the twilight years of his career and you’ll be bringing on board a Messi that is different to what we’ve seen for the last 17 years with Barcelona.

“Even he himself has said that he is getting closer to the dreaded r-word of retirement more so than anyone cares to admit.

“That goes hand-in-hand with finances because even though he would be able to join for free, his wages are astronomically high – he is earning about 100m euros-a-year. That would be a huge financial burden for any club to take on, especially given the fact that we are in the middle of a global pandemic

“Economically, everyone has taken a hit and clubs are not immune from this either. We’ve seen in the transfer window over the past summer that clubs are changing their strategies. Some of them, like Real Madrid, didn’t even buy a single player, most of them are trying to sell, some of them are trying to bide their time and wait so they can make bigger transfers some time down the road. And 100m euros is a huge stress from a wage-bill point of view.

“Either you have to offload some of the highest earners or you have to sell off players or make other tweaks in other parts of the club depending on whatever formula a club would want to use to bring Messi on board.

“Perhaps, clubs would rather invest that money into bringing younger players in or bringing in reinforcements in positions where they actually need those reinforcements.”
