Neymar Lacks The Professionalism To Be Great Like Messi Or Ronaldo – Zico

Neymar Lacks The Professionalism To Be Great Like Messi Or Ronaldo - Zico

Neymar needs to be more professional like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, according to Brazil’s Zico.

The former great has recognized the one problem that has been halting Neymar from being great in his career.

We are all aware of the 28-year-old’s lavish lifestyle in Paris, the birthday party he hosted just a couple of days ahead of PSG’s clash with Nantes. He has maintained an incredible scoring tally of 69 goals in 80 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit but at what cost? Neymar came to the side at a record-breaking fee of €222m but after three seasons is yet to lead PSG to Champions League success.

“I really like Ney, his way of playing is incredible. But he has to be more professional like Ronaldo and Messi, who live for football,” Zico told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Ney has too many thoughts that distract him. I spoke to him recently and asked him to be more professional. He is 28 years old now and there is a good team at PSG. They can win the Champions League. It will depend on his quality throughout the tournament, not just for one match. Now Ney has more experience and maturity.”

Neymar tried to force a PSG exit last summer but was unsuccessful. He did commit to finding success with the French side but it is unlikely that he will stay for the remainder of his contract. Can we expect a return to the Camp Nou?

Barcelona set to lose millions as Umtiti transfer closes in

Barcelona set to lose millions as Umtiti transfer closes in

Barcelona it would seem had already resigned to the sale of Samuel Umtiti this summer.

The French World Cup Winner was bought for an expensive price and has failed to live up to his hype at the club. It is now being rumored that he will be let go off in the summer, should they get the correct bid.

He has very often been injured and whenever he has played he has not been up to the mark. Moreover, with the introduction of Lenglet at Nou Camp, Umtiti has lost his first-team spot completely.

Amidst this situation, rose another – Umtiti wanted to be sold. There was no dearth of suitors as Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United made their interest in him clear.

Arsenal are still being considered favorites as they have ramped up their efforts to sign the defender. However, the current situation has seen markets dip if not crash yet and Barcelona are now concerned that Umtiti’s valuation has gone down.

They were expecting to earn £50 million in his sale from any suitor but are now afraid that with the market down they will not get anywhere near £40 million either. Keeping the player is no option either as they need to move him to free up salary and prepare funds for other targets.

Barcelona Should Prioritize Bringin Neymar Back Over Lautaro Martinez – Rivaldo

Barcelona Should Prioritize Bringin Neymar Back Over Lautaro Martinez - Rivaldo

Former Barcelona ace, Rivaldo believes reuniting Neymar with Lionel Messi should be a priority.

The Catalan giants are invested in bringing Lautaro Martinez to Camp Nou this summer. However, Rivaldo thinks bringing Neymar back should top that wish after a very troubled season.

“The rumours are growing about Barcelona’s intention to sign Neymar and Lautaro Martinez in the next transfer window,” Rivaldo wrote in his column for Betfair (via Onefootball).

“Although the young Argentinian is a good player, I think that only Neymar is a certain bet to claim a place in the starting XI side by side with Messi. Looking at the last few years we have seen many valuable players who didn’t manage to play alongside Messi – failing to perform under the expectations.

“But Neymar – like Luis Suarez – is one of the few players in the world that doesn’t feel pressure on the pitch, always playing with plenty of personality. He never gets frightened and it would be a safe option for the club while Martinez is a young, talented forward that perhaps in two or three years may become a good signing.

“For now I think the club should prioritise Neymar. I’m a fan of his qualities and personality and I know that sometimes I’m liable to criticism as some Barcelona fans didn’t like the way Neymar decided to leave the club.

“But the truth is that he is a different player now who should be a nice help to Messi and co. in trying to win another Champions League.”

Barca puts Ter Stegen talks on hold

During the break in La Liga, the leaders of Barcelona are trying to convince goalkeeper Mark-Andre Ter Stegen to sign a new contract.

According to the Spanish media, the first round of negotiations failed, as the goalkeeper did not accept the conditions offered by the club.

Ter Stegen moved to Barcelona from Monchengladbach in 2014 for 12 million euros. At Nou Camp, he became one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he won all the trophies in club football with the Spanish giants.

His current contract with Barcelona expires in two years, and if the club wants to keep him, they will have to offer him a higher salary. Under the current contract, Ter Stegen has an annual salary of five million euros, and in the new contract, Barcelona offers him an annual salary of 6.5 million euros.

Ter Stegen is seeking a salary of 10 million euros a year, and believes that he deserves to be close to Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez.

The world might soon be coming to an end but the Barcelona board is being hit relentlessly.

Imagine the level of distasteful handling of well-paid professionals you would have to go to , to manage to irk every senior player in the squad enough so that they keep calling you out despite the end times being near.

After it was revealed that Barcelona players had finally agreed to pay cuts after a lot of negotiations by the Barcelona board, Messi sent out a statement claiming the contradiction.

It said that the players were always ready to sacrifice the salary and more to help the club and truth should not be twisted to suit the board.

Now Luis Suarez, another senior member at the club has taken to the media to hit out at the board.

“A lot of hurtful things have been said about the squad’s salary cuts,” the forward told Sport 890 on Thursday.

“People have said that the players didn’t want to accept them, then it was said that players from other areas of the club had reached an agreement when the reality is that we were waiting to try and find the best solution for the club.”

Suarez added: “It hurts when people say things like that because we were always the first people that wanted to reach an agreement, as we know what the club’s situation is.

“No player in the squad refused a wage cut. A mutual agreement was reached between the players and the club. The captains spoke to the president and nobody refused it.”

Griezmann: I want the #7 jersey

Griezmann I want the #7 jersey

Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann has admitted he wants to change the number of his shirt.

The Frenchman, who joined the Catalan club last summer, playGs at number 17, while at Atletico Madrid he wore number 7, just like in the national team.

It can be said that Antoine Griezmann has had a forgetful first season in the Barcelona jersey since last summer when he decided to make a move from Atletico Madrid.

That is why many have linked the player with a move away from Camp Nou, just one season after his transfer, but according to the his latest statement, it does not make sense for him at least this summer.

In an eSports stream, the Frenchman said that he wants to get the number 7 shirt next year, making it clear he has no plans to leave the Catalan club.

– I would like to return “7”. Quarantine goes well, but there is nothing to be done. I really miss football. I have no idea when the matches will continue, Griezmann said.

As a reminder, last summer, the number 7 jersey in Barcelona was occupied by Filipe Coutinho. Later, the Brazilian went on loan to Bayern Munich.

Barcelona Seem To Have Lost Their ‘Soul’

Barcelona Seem To Have Lost Their 'Soul'

Barcelona are no longer their best self and currently look like a team without a soul, according to Marc Muniesa.

It has been a rough ride all along for the Catalan giants, getting knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Athletico and having to switch managers midway through the campaign.

Barca have looked unconvincing even under Quique Setien with €120m signing, Antoine Griezmann struggling to hit top form. However, they were two points clear at the top of the La Liga table before football came to a halt across Europe.

“Everything that’s happened has been a bit bizarre, with Valverde’s sacking, people putting on pressure from outside about the play… it looks like a team without a soul,” Muniesa told Sport.

“It’s very difficult to do what Pep [Guardiola] did or Luis Enrique, who played a little more on the counter-attack. Now, with injuries to Dembele and Luis Suarez, there aren’t as many solutions up front.

“Griezmann is not at the high level expected of him and Messi is a bit on his own. The best news is Ansu Fati, who’s a footballer who has no fear. The football issue was a bit more complicated because the investment in wages is the most important thing at the club and it’s normal that it would take a bit longer.”

UEFA threatens Quique Setien with suspension

UEFA threatens Quique Setien with suspension

On Tuesday, UEFA fined Barcelona 15.000 Euros, for appearing late on the pitch, on their first leg of the last 16 match against Napoli.

The fine for the Barça team amounts to 15,000 euros as a result of the delay in appearing on the pitch. A fine that the club must pay within a period of 90 days.

But according to the Spanish newspaper Sport, there are more things to look out for. Especially the one where the disciplinary body blames coach Quique Setien for this delay, They give him a warning, a step prior to being sanctioned with a suspension, for “being the most responsible for the delay” when the team appears on the pitch.

The resolution states that the club must assure UEFA that the Barça coach is informed of this situation. In the future, should something similar happen again, Setién would automatically be penalized with at least one match.

However, without a doubt the hardest sanction, is for the team from Naples, which has been sanctioned with 12,000 euros for the use of laser pointers to which another 15,000 are added also for leaving the pitch late. A total of 27,000 euros that must also be paid in the next 90 days.

Gattuso also receives a notice for this conduct as Quique Setien with the same procedure as that established for the coach of FC Barcelona.

Xavi Will Sign These Two Players If He Comes Barca Boss

Barcelona legend Xavi has dug up two names which he would like to sign, if he became the Barcelona boss in the future.

Since Ernesto Valverde was sacked in January, rumours rose up about Xavi coming back to the Catalan club as the next Barca boss.

However, Quique Setien was signed in place of Valverde as the head coach, although the former Blaugrana midfielder still hopes to make a comeback as boss in the coming season.

Setien is having his setbacks as the manager and Barca might be on the lookout for a new manager by next year.

So, Xavi has named two players that he would potentially sign, if were to become the Barca head coach. Any guesses?

“Barcelona lack wingers,” he told La Vanguardia.

“They wouldn’t need many new signings, but I would go for Serge Gnabry and Jadon Sancho.”

However, Sancho comes at a fee of €150m, which will be too expensive on Barca’s wallet, seeing as they on a major financial down low now. Further, Allianz Arena will not let go of Gnabry so easily or at all, even in the future – since he is a very integral part of the team.

Messi confirms 70% pay cut while criticizing Barcelona board

There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about the players in Barcelona refusing to accept a pay cut because of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

They point to the situation of Real Madrid, which announced that there would be no staff cuts, but the Catalan team’s players eventually agreed to drop as much as 70 percent of their salaries during the crisis.

And not only that, players led by Lionel Messi have announced that they will help the club ensure that all non-sporting staff in Barcelona have full income.

“Before we go any further, we want to make it clear that we have always been prepared to cut wages because we understand perfectly well that we are in an exceptional situation. We as players are always there to help the club when asked.

“For our party, the moment has come that the reduction will be 70% of our salary during the alarm period. We will also help the club so that workers are paid 100% of their wages.”

He says he is surprised that there are people in the club trying to put players under scrutiny and “put us under pressure to do something we always knew we would do”.

“It does not surprise us that there were some within the club who tried to put us in the loop and tried to put pressure on us to do something we always knew we were going to do. If we haven’t talked so far, it’s because the priority was to find solutions to help the club and see who were the most affected in this situation.
