The Barcelona squad are the favourites for this tie at 1.54 with Unibet. Valencia are priced at 6.50 with Unibet to possibly cause an upset at Camp Nou.

Given the position and the history between the two teams, it is not hard to see why Barca are priced so high. Valencia are in the 18th position, behind Barcelona’s first. But they have not actually beaten Barca in La Liga since March 2008 and lost seven of their last 10 encounters with the Blaugrana.

Speaking of quality, this will be an opportunity for Ansu Fati to increase his lead in the top scorer’s list which is why he has been handed odds of 6.75 with Unibet to score the first goal.

Ronald Araujo rejects offers from English clubs to stay with Barcelona

Ronald Araujo rejects offers from English clubs to stay with Barcelona

Araujo wants to become the captain of the team in the near future.

As per the fresh reports from SPORT, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo rejected offers from top Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United to stay with his current club in the summer.

Araujo’s contract at Camp Nou was stalled as the defender was looking for a bigger contract. Barcelona are dealing with financial issues and they could not offer him a hefty raise at the time. However, the defender eventually decided to renew the offer he did have on the table.

Araujo wants to become the captain of the team in the near future. He does not imagine playing anywhere else.

Xavi has already heralded Araujo as one of the leaders of the squad, even though he is not part of the official quadrant of captains.

“Araujo is a leader, regardless of his physical, technical, and tactical conditions. He prints his personality on the defensive line with leadership, and he has all the capabilities to make a mark at the club.”

“We are calm, that’s what Mateu (Alemany) and Jordi (Cruyff) tell me. I don’t think it will affect them, the issue will be resolved without further ado. They are both calm, and confident to play for Barça and they are enjoying it,” Xavi said when asked about his registration.

“Araujo was spectacular, but all of our defenders were really good. He is one of the best defenders in the world,” Xavi said following the 0-1 win.

Sergi Roberto extends his Barcelona contract till 2024

Sergi Roberto extends his Barcelona contract till 2024

Sergi Roberto’s contract with Barcelona has been extended through 2024, according to a statement from the team

The versatile midfielder’s current contract with the team was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, but the 31-year-old made it obvious that he wanted to stay at Spotify Camp Nou. Roberto, who accepted a significant salary cut when he agreed to a one-year contract extension in June 2022, has now moved to renew conditions with Barca.

After advancing through the club’s youth system, the Spaniard defender has played for the Blaugranas for the past 17 years. His new contract includes a €400 million buyout provision and will keep him with the team for an additional year. Roberto gives Xavi Hernandez’s team strength. Roberto, who is primarily a defender, has filled in at right-back and even as a left winger when necessary.

In just seven of his 14 league games this season, he has begun. In 23 appearances across all leagues, the Spaniard has contributed three goals and three helpers. Roberto is still a crucial member of Xavi’s team that is trying to capture the La Liga championship for the first time since the 2018–19 season, despite having to make do with off-the-bench appearances for the majority of the campaign.

Real Madrid, the defending champions, currently trail Barcelona by seven points, but there is still a tonne of football remaining to be played. A home treble is also possible for Xavi’s team. After defeating Madrid 1-0 in the first match on Thursday, Barca has already won the Spanish Super Cup and has a spot in the Copa del Rey final.

Roberto is one of the team’s more seasoned players, having made 339 games for the Catalan powerhouses, scoring 15 goals and assisting on another 40. Now that his contract situation is resolved, attention will likely turn to another stalwart team member, Sergio Busquets, whose contract also ends at the end of the current campaign.

Xavi lauds squad after exceptional El Clasico win

Barcelona manager Xavi has praised his defence after Copa del Rey win.

An own goal from Eder Militao sealed the night for Xavi’s men in their Copa del Rey first-leg clash against Real Madrid.

Barcelona have now gone six matches without defeat at the home and produced an excellent defensive display last night.

The squad has lost their last two matches and had only 35% possession against Real Madrid.

Despite such low possession, Barcelona didn’t allow Carlo Ancelotti’s men to register a single shot on target.

The Catalan giants went to the game without Andreas Christensen, Pedri, Ousmane Dembele and Robert Lewandowski through injury.

Xavi lamented his squad for their outstanding display at Camp Nou yesterday.

“I’m satisfied with the result because we were able to suffer, but I can’t be happy with the game,” Xavi said.

“We have not been able to keep the ball. It has been difficult for us to win duels to have possession. We have fought until the end and that’s very positive.

“Defensively we have been spectacular, we could not be protagonists but today it was not our turn, they did not have chances, we did a great job defensively.”

Xavi still believes that Real Madrid have the edge in the tie.

Barcelona’s domination over Real Madrid continues and they beat Los Blancos one more time this season in the Copa del Rey semifinals. However, Xavi still feels Real Madrid can come back.

Barcelona’s incredible Copa del Rey unbeaten run at the Santiago Bernabeu continued as Eder Militao’s own goal gave the Blaugrana a slender first-leg advantage in the Copa del Rey semi-final tie against Real Madrid.

Barcelona have gone six matches without defeat at Camp Nou of their great rivals in the competition, in a run that stretches back to 1970.

Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in January in Supercopa de Espana final and failed to retain the trophy. They are also behind to Barca in Laliga table and it’s likely that Xavi’s side will win their first ever La Liga trophy since Messi’s departure.

“We have not been able to keep the ball. It has been difficult for us to win duels to have possession, but we have defended very well. We have fought until the end and that’s very positive.”

Xavi labelled Real Madrid as favourites pre-match, and despite his side’s victory, he still believes that Los Blancos have the edge in the tie.

“The 0-1 gives us a certain advantage, but we are going to have to compete very well against a very strong Real Madrid side. I still see Madrid as a favourite.”

Xavi’s men will now face Valencia in La Liga on Sunday. The second leg of the semi-final takes place in April at Camp Nou.

Xavi to take a decision on Kessie’s future as Tottenham plans to lure him to London

Xavi to take a decision on Kessie's future as Tottenham plans to lure him to London

Barcelona’s financial predicament may tempt them to sell Franck Kessie this summer

Prior to the summer, Tottenham Hotspur is still interested in the Ivory Coast international playmaker. Due to their time spent working together in Serie A, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is aware of Kessie’s potential.

The 26-year-old will be courted with all possible means by the Italian, who wants to bolster his team. Kessie moved to Barcelona as a free agency from AC Milan last summer, but he had trouble fitting into Xavi’s plans.

However, Kessie has recently had the opportunity to appear frequently due to injuries to important midfielders. In the Blaugrana colours, he is beginning to establish himself, but the club may still be enticed to sell him. They could make a good profit by selling him in the summer after they hired him for nothing.

Xavi will make the ultimate decision, but Sergio Busquets’ impending departure might influence him. Kessie will keep working hard to persuade Barcelona. His return to the Italian top division is something that Inter Milan is also interested in. They and Spurs could engage in a buying conflict.

Having played for Milan, Kessie might not be interested in moving to Inter. For the majority of players, the Premier League is still a desirable choice. The Ivorian may decide to leave Camp Nou if Barca signs another midfielder. He desires to play frequently and might not think twice to move if that is guaranteed somewhere else.

Ez Abde, a winger for Barca, is having a solid season on loan at CA Osasuna of La Liga

The Hercules CF forward, 21, joined Barça in the summer of 2021, and Xavi Hernandez helped him break into the first squad. The Moroccan forward was effective in his few chances at Camp Nou. However, he was forced to depart on loan in order to play frequently due to the summer arrival of Raphinha, Ousmane Dembele’s contract renewal, and Ansu Fati’s return to fitness.

Abde has also had a respectable run with Jagoba Arrasate’s team, earning 19 appearances and contributing two goals and two assists in that time.

The Moroccan international has distinguished himself for his speed, dribbling, and ability to get past defenders even though his statistics aren’t particularly remarkable. According to Toni Juanmarti, it appears that Nottingham Forest of the Premier League has taken note of Abde’s development and is interested in signing him.

The recently promoted Premier League team, who made quite a splash in the previous two transfer windows, appears to already be making plans for the following season and has their eyes set on signing the Barcelona loanee. Abde, however, reportedly wants to remain at Barça for the upcoming campaign. A meeting will be held in June to discuss the child’s destiny and determine the best course of action.

According to reports, the La Liga’s top team is receptive to the idea of including Abde in Xavi’s system. However, Barcelona will not be opposed to a sale if a reasonable offer is made given their financial situation. It will be fascinating to see how Abde performs for Osasuna the rest of the season and whether he is successful in persuading Barcelona to keep him on staff for the upcoming campaign.

The Argentine forward Julian Alvarez plays for Manchester City, and Barcelona and a few other teams have expressed interest in him

Although he joined the team in the summer, the 23-year-old attacker signed for the Cityzens in January of last year from River Plate. Since then, he has had a respectable effect on Pep Guardiola’s team, scoring ten goals in 30 games. Alvarez, who helped Argentina win the FIFA World Cup last year, has been forced to make do with a supporting position at the Etihad Stadium because Erling Haaland is the undisputed starter there.

According to the report, if his role does not greatly improve in the upcoming months, there may be a chance for a loan move during the summer transfer window. Barcelona is one of the teams that have inquired about the Argentinian forward amid rumours that he might go out on loan.

Next summer, the Catalans will be looking to add a new striker, and one of their main targets is Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque. The Brazilian will probably cost between €35 and €40 million, which could be difficult given the club’s present financial situation. Regardless of that, they are anticipated to continue pursuing the 17-year-old attacker.

Alvarez is one of the possible targets, but it also appears that they are keeping their options open and making inquiries. Despite the fact that his current contract is set to expire in 2027, the report claims that Manchester City is already in negotiations to extend it. An agreement has not yet been made, though.

Additionally, if his position in Guardiola’s plan does not change, a summer loan departure may be in the cards. Barcelona is one of the teams that is aware of the scenario. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Blaugrana look into the free transfer and loan markets in the summer given the Fair Play scenario. It remains to be seen whether the original inquiry into Alvarez’s situation yields any meaningful results.
