Xavi tells Barcelona will sell Dembele this month if he fails to sign a new contract.

The 24-year old French international has entered the final six months of his Barcelona contract and there has been constant negotiations over a contract renewal in the past few months.

He joined the Catalan giants back in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for a £110million fee which turned out to be a disaster signing for Barca.

There has been constant discussion between the club and player’s camps to make a decision on the winger’s future.

“Either he renews or we’ll find him a way out,” Xavi told reporters on Wednesday. “In the end, the club has decided that if he does not renew, a solution must be found.

“We have to do what is best for the club. We are in a situation where we have to stop in our tracks, [director of football] Mateu Alemany has been talking with him and his representatives for five months.”

He added: “[Dembele] tells me he wants to continue – that’s a question for him. I couldn’t have been more clear. It has not disappointed me. It is a very difficult case.”

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is attracting plenty of interest amid his uncertain contract situation.

Since breaking onto the scene, the youthful midfielder has been a revelation, becoming a first-team regular at the age of 17. When he was 11 years old, the midfielder was snapped up by the Barcelona academy.

Before making his debut for Barcelona B, he signed his first professional deal with the club in September 2020. He was promoted to the first team in 2021 and made his senior debut for the Spanish National team. Gavi, who is already a Spain international, is well on his way to becoming a world-class player.

That makes the Blaugrana susceptible, and a lot of prominent teams around Europe are already aware of it. According to El Nacional, the youngster has a release clause of £41.75million and City are willing to make an approach if the opportunity arises.

According to Sport, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich have all indicated interest in the midfielder and are keeping a close eye on his contract status.

Xavi already considers Gavi to be a rising talent and one to keep an eye on in the future. And, while Barcelona will certainly do everything in their might to keep him, Gavi’s contract expires in 2023.

Gavi has been with Barcelona since 2015, and he is likely to prioritise his stay at the club, especially considering the number of opportunities he is going to have under Xavi Hernandez. But it’s apparent that if a contract falls through, Gavi will have lots of offers, including top-tier bids.

Samuel Umtiti injury blocks loaning possibilities for Barcelona

Samuel Umtiti has fractured his fifth metatarsal and will be treated on Tuesday, striking a blow to any hopes of letting him out on loan this month.

Barcelona have released a medical statement revealing that Umtiti broke a bone in his foot in training on Monday and must undergo surgery.

Umtiti’s operation will be conducted on Tuesday by Dr. Antoni Dalmau, and the defender is expected to be out for two to three months.

Umtiti, 28, recently extended his contract at Camp Nou until 2026, allowing the club to decrease its pay burden and sign Ferran Torres. His new contract, however, did not imply that he would continue at the club. Barça were still hoping that he would agree to a loan transfer abroad in January to help his career.

The mood towards Umtiti from fans has softened of late, although it was still expected that the Blaugrana would try and forcibly sell him in the winter window. Umtiti’s time with Barça has been blighted by a series of injuries and he has not made more than 18 appearances in a season since the 2017/18 campaign.

The Frenchman has made only one appearance for the Blaugrana this season, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw against Osasuna in December, but he is now set for another layoff.

Luuk de Jong, on loan from Sevilla, is still optimistic of continuing at Barcelona.

According to Sport, Barcelona told him before Christmas that they didn’t need him in the second half of the season and even agreed to let him leave on loan to Cadiz.

The Dutchman, on the other hand, took advantage of the deficiencies in attack and played himself into good form. Barcelona recognises his professionalism and believes he can still be of use. De Jong wishes to remain, but his future is uncertain.

When Koeman equated him to Neymar upon his arrival, the Dutchman was made an object of derision rather than boost his confidence.

De Jong, on the other hand, deserves respect for never dropping his guard and never losing trust in his own abilities. He kept his head down and worked tirelessly.

Xavi has always commended his hard work and dedication. And the Barcelona coach is now leaning toward keeping the Dutchman.

Sevilla are happy to recall him and loan him out to the best club that will pay all his salary. But De Jong has gained the respect of the dressing room at Barca and also the coaching staff.

Ousmane Dembele told to decide on his future quickly.

Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany explains how he wants the Dembele situation resolved quickly.

The French international has entered the final six months of his contract and reportedly in talks with Barca over a contract extension.

However, Dembele has been linked with a host of new clubs in recent weeks with a Premier League move looking more imminent.

Barcelona has already tabled an offer for the 24-year old winger and it is now time for him to decide.

The Blaugrana are keen to get a deal done in order to avoid letting him leave for free in the summer.

“We hope that it can be for the good and he stays with us because he is an important player and there will be updates soon.”

Transfer targets to push Barca into Champions League position

Barca to make some signings to push them forward into a Champions League position?

The La Liga table is one that nobody really could’ve predicted this season. Barca have seriously been underperforming, and with their much-publicized financial troubles seemingly easing, could it be time for a few major signings to help them push through.

The idea of Barcelona not gracing Europe’s biggest competition is unthinkable for many. Odds from betway and other online bookmakers show that most think the club will still qualify, but they may need fresh blood.

Barca has already shown some intent with the recently confirmed signing of Man City youngster Ferran Torres. With over €50 million invested in this deal alone, it seems the Spanish giants are back in the market for some big signings

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

After a rift with manager Mikel Arteta, the former Arsenal captain has been left out of recent matchday squads. We already know that he spends time in Barcelona in his personal life. Aubameyang has a costly wage packet but could be available at a cut-price due to being out of favour at Arsenal.

Edinson Cavani

Cavani is another striker, a position that Barca needs to fill desperately. He’s entering his twilight years as a player but still has plenty to offer and could be available from Manchester United in the summer as they rebuild under interim boss Rangnick.

Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen is one of several Chelsea players whose contracts will expire at the end of the season. This means Barcelona is free to approach and negotiate with the player. If an agreement could be reached, they may even try to get him through the door in January by offering a fee to the London club.

Anthony Martial

It is clear that Martial is ready to head for the exit door at Manchester United and could be available cheaply. Since the new regime came in at Old Trafford, he’s barely been involved and has made it clear that he plans to leave the club.

Edinson Cavani wants a move to Barcelona

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani wants to join Barcelona as a free agent next summer.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival last summer, Cavani has been a sporadic fixture in Man United’s starting XI this season. This season, the 34-year-old has only appeared in 12 matches for the Manchester side, scoring two goals on all fronts.

The Uruguayan attacker, whose contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, is said to be hoping for a move to the Catalan club later this year.

The Salto-born talent has made a lot of his league appearances as a substitute which could be why he is only averaging 1.8 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he deserves credit for linking up play well with others around him in the final third after making 77.2% of his attempted passes in league football. (Stats)

However, time is catching up with Cavani’s game, so he won’t be a long-term solution to Barcelona’s goal-scoring difficulties at the Nou Camp.

Xavi, on the other hand, would be wise to find a method to bring the Uruguayan star on board when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season. He will be a low-risk, short-term signing for the Catalan club, and he might help them win a title or two in the future seasons.
