Bayern Munich president criticises Xavi for his open desire to sign Joshua Kimmich.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer hits out at Barcelona for openly flirting with the idea of signing Joshua Kimmich.

The German midfielder has emerged as a potential target for the Catalan giants this summer.

Barcelona are keen to replace now-departed Sergio Busquets and Kimmich would a perfect replacement.

Man City are also known to be admirer of the Germany international who has been an integral part of the Bavarians since 2015.

“First of all, Xavi was an excellent player and I have big respect for Barcelona,” he said.

“But I don’t understand why they’re openly and offensively ‘flirting’ with our player. Joshua Kimmich is an absolute cornerstone for us.

“Joshua is a leader, has won many titles with us and will also continue to win titles with us in the future. He’s firmly in our plans for the future and one of the players to build the team around.”

But Kimmich looks set to continue and create even more history for Germany’s biggest club.
