Carvajal spoke on Barcelona’s poor campaign in La Liga 2021/22.
Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal compares Barcelona’s appointment of Xavi to Real Madrid’s appointment of Zinedine Zidane. He feels both are great managers. Zidane was Real Madrid’s star manager and achieved so many glories during his stint at Los Blancos.
He also spoke on Barcelona’s poor campaign in La Liga 2021/22. While speaking at Las Rozas, Carvajal compared Xavi’s appointment as coach of Barcelona to when Madrid appointed Zinedine Zidane.
“I don’t rule it out by any means,” he said when he got the question on Barcelona.
He added with Zidane’s point, “When Zidane came, we were 12 points behind Barcelona and we finished a point behind, pushing them until the last game. (Xavi’s) arrival is a change, a figure like him will fill them with enthusiasm. Although he’s a rival, I wish him all the luck in the world.”
Barca stands 9th in La Liga table and they are clear off 11 points to Real Sociedad. Real Madrid comes second with 27 points, just one point behind to leaders.
Xavi took his first training session today and he will now focus on Barca’s next La Liga fixture after WC 2022 qualifiers. His first game in charge of Barcelona will be on Saturday against Espanyol at Camp Nou.
