Neymar still wants to return to Barcelona.
Spanish news outlet, Marca reports that Barca might pull a final hail mary in order to convince Lionel Messi into staying.
Neymar is tipped to be that wild card, whose signing will definitely force Messi to reconsider. The Argentine’s career at Camp Nou is drawing to a close. He has not signed an extension just yet and an exit seems likely unless things change drastically in the last few days.
Neymar has already expressed a strong desire to reunite with his former teammate. He even tried to force a move back to Camp Nou in 2019 but was denied. Even his future at PSG is not certain with a contract set to last for one more season.
Barcelona will no doubt have to dish out a heavy amount to bring in Neymar, not to mention his €70m-per-year salary. PSG also don’t share a particularly healthy relationship with the Catalan giants. There are other players who are also on Barcelona’s shortlist.
Erling Haaland, Lautaro Martinez or Sergio Aguero could all end up at Barca next season as Ronald Koeman looks to ramp up his attacking options.
