Koeman – Cannot lose a single game from now on

0

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has said that the club cannot lose another game this season if they want to win La Liga.

“It’s another game and you can’t trust the results of other days,” Koeman said in comments carried by Marca. “It’s another rival, another ground. If we’re not at our level, the opposition can complicate the game a lot. You have to be humble and do things well with and without the ball, and show personality on the pitch.”

“We knew it would be a tough week with three away games,” Koeman said. “We have to recover and show that we still can do it, both to ourselves and others. We aren’t in a situation where more points can be lost. There’s great pressure – we know that we can’t lose. Because of our position, we can’t lose more.”

“I look at the team in first,” Koeman said. “Atletico Madrid have been very strong in the championship, they concede few goals and they have players who can go and score and win games. It’s very complicated. You have to realistic, but if you win a game you’re just four points off.”

Ronald Koeman desperate for January reinforcements

Ronald Koeman hopeful of bringing in new faces to Camp Nou despite financial troubles.

Barca’s financial situation is making it hard for the Dutch coach who seems too keen on signing new players for the Catalan giants.

Since Luis Suarez’s departure, Koeman has expressed his desire to add a new striker to his ranks.

Barca is yet to presidential elections on January 24 following Joseph Bartomeu’s resignation last year.

Koeman has very few options at the moment as Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique, Philippe Coutinho and Sergi Roberto are all long-term absentees and is not expected to make a comeback soon.

“The best thing would be to get a president in place as soon as possible because it would give us negotiating time,” Koeman told a news conference ahead of Saturday’s La Liga match against Granada.

“In the short time, it’s important that we get some reinforcements in because we want to improve the squad. We need to be more effective and increase competition for places.

“There’s many reasons to make signings, but I also understand the situation the club is in and if we can’t make any signings then we’ll wait for next season.”

Lionel Messi will definitely leave Camp Nou this summer.

Messi has been allowed to have a pre-agreement with other clubs in January and Manchester City are leading the race in acquiring the Argentine international.

Club presidential candidate Agusti Benedito expects Messi to leave when his contract expires with the Catalan club.

Benedito said to ESPN: “Keeping Messi would be the best news for the club but I am not very optimistic. Given the club’s situation, I think it’s really important that he stays at Barca, with the understanding that he understands the next two years we have in front us [could be difficult].

“He’s been here for 20 years; he’s a Barcelona fan and I think he’s sensitive to the situation. He has given us so much in the same way that Barcelona have given him a lot and it’s time for us all to roll up our sleeves.

“I would have liked him to say in his interview the other week that his desire is to stay at the club, but he didn’t and now we have to wait and see. The truth is I am pessimistic.

“Remember that in August he said he wanted to leave after 20 years and now he’s still not cleared up what he wants to do. The most likely outcome I see is that he leaves us in the summer.”

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has praised his team’s fighting spirit.

The Catalans won the match after a long time and in style too.

They played well with Lionel Messi starring. Koeman has praised his wards and also sent out a message to La Liga contenders Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid that the club from Nou Camp will fight till the very last day.

“The final result is a bit short because we have been superior in many phases,” Koeman said, having now recorded three away wins on the spin in LaLiga for the first time in his reign.

“They made it 1-0 and we did not have the defensive coordination, but then we controlled [the game].

“I am happy with the result and with how we have achieved it. We have deserved it. Winning because of our game and our opportunities.

“The teamwork has been phenomenal. We will fight until the last match. There is distance [to go], but we are on the right track.”

Koeman also praised the young packs in his team.

“Pedri is showing despite his youth that he is very mature,” the Dutchman said in his post-match interview.

“Messi has always shown his desire but today also with goals. It is very important.”

Koeman – Messi back to his best

Ronald Koeman has said that Lionel Messi is back to his best

“Since the first day that I arrived at the club I think Lionel Messi has given everything,” he told a news conference.

“I haven’t been surprised by his quality because he’s obviously been showing how good he is for years. It’s possibly true that he’s been less effective than normal which is why there could have been doubts but he’s doing a lot better now, he feels comfortable at the moment and he feels up for the challenge.

“That’s how I feel. But I think Messi is the one who can answer that best.”

Koeman also praised other members of his Barcelona squad.

“I think everything starts with the player himself. If the player feels comfortable and feels physically fit he can play well,” he said.

“I don’t think there’s ever been any question about his quality, at least in my opinion, but there have been doubts about his ability to stay fit. At the moment he seems fully fit and I have to think about the programme of games ahead and when we can give him a rest because he hasn’t played regularly for quite some time.

“He has to learn how to manage his game time as well. But in terms of the football he can play we know what he can give to the team. He’s very good going forward, he attacks with the ball and those are good qualities for us.”

Koeman – I am right on with my tactics

Ronald Koeman has now backed his abilities to succeed at Barcelona.

“The team tries to play in the same way whether we are at home or away,” Koeman said.

“We want to create danger and have opportunities to score, but away from home we haven’t had the effectiveness that a team like Barcelona should have.”

“We have also made mistakes in defence, we’re a team that creates a lot of chances, but our conversion percentage is very low.”

“Dest has ups and downs during matches, he started very well for us but he is 19 years old and needs time to adapt,” Koeman confirmed.

“Like any footballer, he has the right to make mistakes and then improve from them. I’m not disappointed in him because he is young and these things are normal.”

The talk comes after Koeman openly called out his Barcelona side for failing to be decisive.

“In the first half, we played well. We controlled the game and we created chances. We tried to score the second goal to finish off the game, but unfortunately, we had no luck.” “The players lack efficiency and decisiveness in front of goal.“We lack someone who can score and create chances inside the box.” said Ronald Koeman.

Barcelona is in financial ruins – Freixa

Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa has called out other presidential candidates.

He believes the other candidates are lying about their promises as the club is in a critical condition financially.

Freixa told Marca: “It is a critical situation resulting from negligent management and a pandemic. We are at a time where we are risking it. We must prevent interests outside the club, which are those who are playing in these elections by silencing lies and promoting candidates sponsored by outsiders, from taking over the club.

“There are candidates who continually lie. They lie by saying they have a person that they really don’t have. And there are media outlets that publish it as if it were true. This happens because there are hidden interests. The press is interested in certain candidates winning.

“There are third party interests in controlling the club. It is time that we tell the members that the club is ours and warn them of the danger of Barcelona falling into the hands of third parties.”

Former president Bartomeu who was in charge for a long time has financially ruined the club after buying players left, right and centre without much thought.

Barcelona finances are an absolute mess – Vilajoana

Barcelona finances are an absolute mess - Vilajoana

Barcelona are in financial ruins.

At least that is what their economic chief for candidate Vilajoana believes. While the numbers are yet to come out, one can understand his sentiment given the horrible way in which Barto and co ran the club. Here is what Vilajoana had to say.

He said, “We want to present (Lionel) Messi with a ‘USA proposal’ and link Barça with an MLS team.

“This would mean creating a training academy, women’s football and an MLS team with the aim that Messi remains linked in the long term as the club’s emblem and generates additional income for the club and the Barça as the brand spreads throughout the world.

“We want to be the largest sports club in the world, with relevance, but we compete with club-states and if we are not well organised economically we will not be. If we want the club to belong to the members, we must see well the proposals of the candidates, years of crisis come and we must have clear ideas.

“Transparency must be inalienable. I’ve been reviewing the Barça accounts for a few days and you should go to NASA to understand the numbers. Where we are today is not sustainable.”

Koeman thinks Barcelona lacks efficiency and decisiveness

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has blamed his side for not being up to the usual standards of being ruthless.

Koeman has been in charge of Barcelona for six months now after being appointed in the summer. He has had a average stint so far winning some impressive games and losing some obvious ones.

He has now hit out at the players and the club for lacking efficiency and decisiveness to kill off games.

“I have no comments regarding putting Griezmann on the bench. There are many games to be played and we will need all players available.” “Dembélé is a skilled player who can penetrate through the centre. If he continues like this he will be a starter for sure.” Ronald Koeman finished.

The comments came after Barcelona managed a narrow win over lowly Huesca.

Ronald Koeman Wants A New Striker At Barcelona

Ronald Koeman Wants A New Striker At Barcelona

Ronald Koeman has publicly demanded a new striker.

Barcelona are currently financially strapped and are not looking to do much business in January.

Between Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi and Martin Braithwaite, there seems to be a lack of cohesion up front. Luis Suarez’s exit meant there was no clear target man who would deliver goals on a regular basis.

Koeman was the one who wanted Suarez to leave but now wants to bring in a player of that profile.

“There’s no need to repeat what we said at the start of the season, that we need someone up front to have more competition, more goals and more efficiency, but it depends on a lot of things,” said Koeman.

Barca won 1-0 over Huesca through Frenkie de Jong’s effort. When speaking about the match, Koeman said, “Ignoring the last 20 minutes we were good in our play and it wasn’t easy against such a tight defence. We were calm playing on the wings and we scored a great goal.

“In the end we suffered a little because they tried to create something. They crossed in the ball and we defended it well. If you don’t get two or three goals to kill the game you always suffer a bit.”
