Antoine Griezmann Could End Up At Newcastle United

Antoine Griezmann Could End Up At Newcastle United

In the times of a Coronavirus pandemic, there are ridiculous transfer links being made but none could be as ridiculous as Antoine Griezmann to Newcastle United.

The Premier League club is about to undergo a takeover by an owner from Saudi Arabia. That just naturally means an influx of boatloads worth of cash and star player signings very very soon.

SportMediaSet claims that the new owners have already begun preparations with new plans that they might be able to set in motion at Tyneside. One of them being the transfer of top athletes like Antoine Griezmann. The report also states that Massimiliano Allegri is being lined up to manage the new side or even a potential return of Rafael Benitez.

Griezmann will find it difficult to cope with life at Camp Nou if Neymar ends up coming back next season. Barcelona are still looking for avenues to bring back the Brazilian and that would naturally mean the exit of a few players. While Griezmann has not been horrible after his £120m switch, we can all agree that looks a bit out of sorts on the left flank.

We have seen before the complete shift in fortunes once money starts flowing into a football club. Manchester City went through the same process and now, they are one of the biggest clubs in England. Players like Robinho and Carlos Tevez ended up at the Etihad Stadium, bringing about the revolution for the Cityzens. Newcastle could deploy a similar tactic, placing a direct threat on the current top six sides in Europe.

Neymar’s Return To Barcelona Still A Strong Possibility

Neymar's Return To Barcelona Still A Strong Possibility

Many people are backing Neymar to return to Barcelona including former vice-president, Emili Rousaud.

A €222m swap to PSG has not gone according to plan for the Brazilian with three years of football and no Champions League trophy or Balon d’Or to show for it.

Injuries has certainly played a key part in the lack of Neymar’s accomplishments but he never really made a convincing push for either honour. On the contrary, he has become more injury-ridden and has fallen prey to the lower levels of competition in Ligue 1.

The forward, who turned 28 in February tried to force a move out of Parc des Princes last summer but was unsuccessful. Something tells me that he will try to do it again, making this his final campaign with the Parisians. Can Barcelona sign him back? That remains to be seen.

“Neymar coming back is possible,” Rousaud told L’Equipe. “The coronavirus is going to provoke deflation in the transfer market and the majority of clubs will have financial problems. Barcelona will have to analyse if the operation is within the club’s finances. The interest is real, but it’s complicated. There are three parties involved: Barca, PSG and the player.

“If the three look for an agreement, they will find the solution: payment in instalments, for example. It all depends on the will of each party and especially on the demands of Neymar.”

Quique Setien denies Rakitic exit

Quique Setien denies Rakitic exit

Barcelona coach Quique Setien has commented on speculation linking Ivan Rakitic with leaving the club.

The Croatian made it clear that if he is not wanted in Barcelona, he is ready to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

However, Quique Setien said that so far the footballer has not told him that he wants to leave, emphasizing that Rakitic has a lot of minutes under his leadership.

– I have no information that Rakitic wants to leave the club, he did not tell me that. Since I’ve been here, he plays quite often, so I think he can stay at the club.

‘I am happy with his performances and have nothing to say. We have to wait to see what happens and if he wants to leave or not. And if I have to say it, the time will come.’

Barcelona reach final decision on Neymar transfer

Years of speculation has now come to an end, finally.

Neymar left Barcelona back in the summer of 2017 and since then it has been three years of constant speculation about his return. The rumors peaked last summer but after the club failed to land him back in 2019, it was being believed that in 2020, they would definitely get their prodigal son back home.

However, despite the stern criticism from Leo Messi and other players over the failure to land Neymar, Barcelona have reached a decision to not pursue his transfer anymore. Reports and talks from inside the board in Barcelona are confirming that the economic crisis in Europe is peaking due to the spread of the CoVID-19 and signing a player by breaking the bank is no longer going to be possible.

The club will instead shift their focus on extending the contract of Leo Messi and signing Lautaro Martinez, an out and out 22-year-old center forward from Inter Milan. The decisions to extend Leo’s contract and sign Martinez are definitely worth celebrating. However, having to give up on Neymar’s future will affect not just the club but the player as well who has burned all bridges with PSG and in all probability be sold somewhere else now.

Where will Neymar end up then this coming summer?

Barcelona join race for Alexander Isak

Barcelona will try hard this summer to bring in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

Lautaro has been a desire of the Catalan club for some time and according to many he is the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez. The Argentine has nothing against a transfer to Barça, which have a chance to activate his buyout clause of 111 million euros.

However, the Catalans will try to lower the price for Lautaro and will offer Inter several players to be included in the transfer. But Inter only want money that obviously Barcelona is not ready to pay at the moment.

Mundo Deportivo writes that Barcelona are also considering a backup option if they fail to bring in Lautaro. Allegedly, their first wish is Alexander Isak, who is playing great in the Real Sociedad jersey this season.

However, a problem for Barcelona could be the fact that he has a buyout clause of 70 million euros and Sociedad will agree to a transfer only if someone decides to set aside that amount for this 20-year-old striker.

Will Lionel Messi stay at Barcelona?

Messi himself insisted last October that he will retire at the club. However, the situation since then has worsened quite a lot.

The Barcelona icon got into a number of fights with the club about the sacking of a manager, power play in the dressing room, hatred towards the board, and undercover agencies hired by the club to defame the players.

It led to Messi growing tired and the final nail on the coffin came when the club accused Leo of refusing to take wage cuts when in fact he was planning a much bigger and more generous donation and support system for the people affected by the CoVID-19.

This has naturally led to talk that Lionel Messi is tired of staying at Barcelona amidst such controversy and wants to end up in a new club this summer.

However, his coach has now reassured fans that Leo is not going anywhere.

“The ideal thing would be to work in a positive atmosphere,” he said. “But I don’t think those things will have an effect on Messi.

”We are sure he is going to continue with us and that he will finish his career at Camp Nou.”

Barca join race for Kingsley Coman

Barca join race for Coman

Barcelona will have a clear goal in the summer transfer window, to bring in a player from the offensive who will have to be a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.

The Catalans’ first target is Inter player Lautaro Martinez, and a possible return to the Camp Nou for Neymar is mentioned.

However, it is clear that both transfers will be difficult to complete, which is why Barcelona have a third option for the attack.

That option could be the Bayern Munich player, Kingsley Coman, who could arrive in Barcelona if the club fails to bring in Lautaro or Neymar. Although he is a young and talented footballer, one cannot escape the impression that Josep Maria Bartomeu somehow wants to repeat the case of Ousmane Dembele. Like his compatriot, Coman is prone to injuries after coming to Bayern in 2015, first on loan and then on a permanent transfer, he has not played a whole season, for these very reasons.

Coman plays great in the Bayern Munich jersey, but his problem is injuries and the fact that he is often out of action.

Barcelona civil war crisis deepens as Rousaud makes resounding claims

Barcelona civil war crisis deepens as Rousaud makes resounding claims

Barcelona’s resigned vice-president Emili Rousaud has doubled down on his allegations against Bartomeu and his reign.

Six Barcelona board members including Rousaud resigned last week after the board was stuck deep in boiling controversy which had been rising since last year.

Their resignation was followed by Rousaud taking it to the media to reveal that there is corruption in the Barcelona board and somebody in the board was ‘robbing’ the club. Bartomeu had already been allegedly teaming up with a PR company to promote his image and downplay the image of any board member or player criticizing by using the club’s money.

Rousaud’s fiery comments were met with legal threats from Barcelona who have now decided to sue their former vice-president for defamation. Rousaud however, remains unaffected as despite the threat of a legal suit, he has once again gone out and called out the Bartomeu administration.

He released a statement via Mundo Deportivo.

It read: “For the sole purpose of responding to the announcement made by the FC Barcelona spokesperson about filing a criminal complaint against me for the statements made regarding the so-called ‘BarcaGate’ case, I want to state the following:

“1. The existence of corruption within the club is evident in the fact that it has already been shown that contracts between related companies…

“2. The statements I made regarding this matter are absolutely true and demonstrable; the opinions that I have expressed are absolutely well-founded, which allows me to state that the announced complaint has no basis whatsoever.

“3. Unfortunately, when I made the club aware of these irregularities it became the cause of my resignation. However, it cannot be underestimated that there is a moral – and legal – obligation to publicly report irregular actions that may constitute crime.”

Tough times ahead for an unpopular Barcelona president who can wait till 2021 to call elections (where he cannot participate obviously) but is under increasing pressure from fans and media to do it sooner rather than later. An ugly end to an era where professionally, his presidency skillset brought nothing but failure (when compared to Barcelona standards and ideologies) to the club.

Xavi opens door ajar to Barcelona return

Xavi has opened up on his possible return to Nou Camp.

The former Barcelona midfielder came close to a return to the club earlier this season as a manager but failed to agree on terms with the club.

With Setien not doing too well and Xavi getting in some crucial experience under his belt, he has openly expressed his desire to return.

Xavi is seen as a potentially brilliant coach and someone who understands the DNA of the club.

“I don’t know why people see me like this, but I am proud and I like it,” he said

“Now that I have tried as a coach, I see myself as capable and it is an illusion, a dream to return to Barcelona.

“I have already said it on many occasions, I consider Barca my home, it is my life.

“I am in an apprenticeship. I am learning a lot as a coach here in Qatar. Obviously, training for Barca are big words, you have to see it clearly, be very prepared.

“It is all a process and I hope that someday I can arrive.”

It is also clear Xavi remains a huge fan of Neymar and wants him back at the club.

Xavi Backs Neymar To Return And Succeed At Barcelona

Xavi Backs Neymar To Return And Succeed At Barcelona

Xavi thinks Neymar would be a great fit back at Barcelona even if he returns for a second stint.

There has been speculation worldwide about the Brazilian’s future with Paris Saint-Germain. He even tried to force a move out last summer by handing in a transfer request.

The chiefs at Parc des Princes refused but it did not kill off the chances of a future departure. Barcelona are still thought to be in the running for Neymar, given how successful the pairing of the 28-year-old was with Lionel Messi the first time around.

Xavi, who has been tipped to take charge of Barca someday, thinks Neymar is a top professional and one of the world’s best. “Why not? Soccer-wise I have no doubts and I have lived with him in a locker room and he seems to me a great person,” the Al-Sadd coach told DjMariiO in a YouTube interview. “He was a professional here in Barcelona and would make a difference. Then there is the social, bureaucratic issue. I don’t go there. But on the field he is among the five best in the world.”

Neymar left Camp Nou for €222m in 2017 but he could cost a bit less if PSG agree to let him walk out. Barca are also linked with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. Xavi praised the Argentina international’s quality, saying: “I like him. Who doesn’t? He stands out well, he gives depth, he plays space, with few spaces. Barca does well when interested.”
